SlopeSense — US State Privacy Notice

Effective 2026-08-22 · Contact: [email protected] · See also our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

This Notice applies to residents of US states with specific privacy or biometric laws, and supplements our Privacy Policy. Where it conflicts with the general Privacy Policy, this Notice controls for residents of the relevant state.

Part A — Biometric information (Illinois BIPA and similar)

A.1 What we collect and why

To generate technique feedback, we compute from your video a stick-figure skeleton of joint positions, joint angles, and ski-to-slope edge angles (“body-position data”). We use it solely to provide feedback and to improve our models (see Terms Sections 8 and 10).

A.2 Consent

We collect body-position data only after you accept the Terms, which include your consent and your representation that you have obtained consent from every Subject in your video (and from a parent or legal guardian for any minor Subject).

A.3 No sale or profit

We do not sell, lease, trade, or otherwise profit from body-position or biometric data.

A.4 Disclosure

We disclose body-position data only to service providers who process it on our behalf to run the Service (see Privacy Policy Section 4), or as required by law.

A.5 Retention and destruction schedule

We retain body-position and biometric data only as long as needed to provide the Service and improve our models, and we permanently destroy it when the initial purpose is satisfied or within three years of your last interaction with us, whichever occurs first. On a valid deletion request we destroy the underlying content and body-position data, subject to the model-training limits in the Terms (Sections 7 and 10), within 30 days. You may also opt out of model training at any time in Profile → Privacy settings.

A.6 Data security

We protect body-position data using the reasonable standard of care described in the Privacy Policy (Section 9).

Part B — California (CCPA / CPRA)

  • Notice at collection. We collect the categories listed in the Privacy Policy (Section 2) for the purposes in Section 3.
  • No sale or sharing. We do not sell or “share” (for cross-context behavioral advertising) personal information, including sensitive personal information.
  • Sensitive PI. We use biometric and body-position data only for permitted business purposes (providing the Service and improving our models) and not to infer characteristics.
  • Your rights. To know/access, delete, correct, and to limit use of sensitive personal information. We do not discriminate against you for exercising rights.

Part C — Other states

Residents of other states with comprehensive privacy laws may have rights to access, delete, correct, and port their data, and to opt out of targeted advertising, sale, or profiling. We do not sell personal data or use it for targeted advertising. Texas and Washington also have biometric-specific provisions relevant to Part A. To exercise rights, contact [email protected].

Part D — Minors

Only adults 18 or older may hold an account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Minors may appear only as Subjects, in video uploaded by a consenting adult, with the consent required by the Terms (Sections 4 and 8).
