About SlopeSense

Better skiing, for everyone.

Hi, I’m Rob Swanson. I built SlopeSense because skiing has been one of the great passions of my life, and I believe the right technology can make every one of us a better skier.

A family on the hill

I love skiing, and I love ski racing: the early mornings, the course inspection, the nerves in the start gate, and the feeling when a turn finally comes together. I raised my kids to ski race, and some of our best days as a family have been spent on the hill together, on race days and on training days.

Watching my kids grow as racers showed me how much great coaching matters, and how much difference it makes when a skier can actually see what their coach is telling them.

Technology that makes us better

My other passion is technology, and I love what it can now do for skiers. A phone video can now show your body position, joint angles and edge angles on every frame. A season of practices can be planned in minutes, and parents can follow their racer’s progress with a single link.

Used well, that technology does more than help the few athletes who already have it. It gives many more people access to great coaching, and through it, it makes everyone a better skier and racer.

Simple, and for everyone

Technology in the skiing world needs to be simple and easy to use, for coaches, for racers and for parents. You shouldn’t need to be an engineer to understand your own skiing. That’s the idea behind everything in SlopeSense: upload a run, get clear feedback a coach has signed off on, and spend more time on snow.

Great coaching shouldn’t depend on where you ski or who you know. Simple tools can put it in everyone’s hands.
